As we step into June, bright colors fill our classrooms and the world around us seems to shine a little brighter. It’s the perfect time to talk about rainbows—but not just as a fun art theme or weather phenomenon. This month, let’s intentionally teach our preschoolers the truth about the rainbow: God made it.........
🌦️ Where the Rainbow Comes From
After the great flood, God made a covenant with Noah—and with all of creation. He set His rainbow in the clouds as a sign of His promise:
“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”— Genesis 9:13 (NIV)
God’s rainbow is a symbol of hope, faithfulness, and grace. It’s not something humanity created to stand for any cause; it is something God Himself designed to remind us of His mercy and everlasting promise never to destroy the earth by flood again.
👶 Why This Matters for Children
Children are like sponges. They absorb what we say and model more than we realize. When we teach them about colors, weather, and nature, let’s also point them to the Creator of it all. June is a great month to reinforce:
That God is a promise keeper.
That God’s creation is good and intentional.
That the rainbow is a message of peace from God.
A simple way to begin might be saying:
“When you see a rainbow, remember that God made it to show He always keeps His promises!”
You can even tie this into circle time songs, rainbow crafts with scripture, and story time featuring Noah’s Ark.

🧵 A Hands-On Way to Reinforce Truth
To help your children engage with the message of God’s rainbow in a fun and fine-motor-friendly way, download this

This printable allows little hands to lace each colorful band of the rainbow while you remind them of God’s promises. It’s an easy, mess-free activity that pairs perfectly with your Bible story time or circle discussions about Noah’s Ark and God’s covenant.
☀️ Encouragement for Summer Teachers
Whether you’re teaching full-time this summer, just winding down from a busy school year, or at home with your kiddos, remember this:
You are planting seeds of truth.
Your work matters. Even when little hands are sticky and attention spans are short, every scripture you speak, every moment you show love, and every truth you share points children toward Jesus.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”— Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

Take moments this June to rest, refresh, and remind yourself that you’re not just teaching letters and colors—you’re teaching truth, and truth lasts.
🌈 A Final Word
As the world redefines the rainbow, we stand firmly in the truth that God defined it first. Let’s teach our preschoolers the beauty and biblical meaning of the rainbow so that even at a young age, they can understand and cherish the promises of God.
Have fun with rainbow activities, but don’t forget to make it God-centered.
You are raising the next generation of truth-bearers. Keep shining. Keep teaching. Keep pointing them to Jesus.
