As the joy of December arrives, so does a special sense of wonder and anticipation. This month, our classrooms become excited hubs of learning, and at Pre K God's Way, we believe it's the perfect time to deepen our commitment to biblical integration across all learning domains. Why? Because connecting God's truth to every lesson not only enriches understanding but also helps develop spiritual hearts of our students with an eternal impact. By intentionally weaving biblical themes into our daily activities, we're not just teaching facts; we're building a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime.
Let's explore some beautiful ways to do this in December:

Dramatic Play: How to Swaddle Baby Jesus
Imagine the joy and reverence in your dramatic play center as children reenact the Nativity! Instead of just playing with dolls, guide them in "How to Swaddle Baby Jesus." Provide soft blankets and baby dolls, and explain the tender care Mary and Joseph showed their newborn King. This simple act fosters empathy, gentleness, and a deeper appreciation for the sacredness of Christ's birth. Check out this free resource poster here!

Math: Shepherds and Their Flocks
The Christmas story is rich with opportunities for mathematical exploration! In your math center, engage children in counting sheep. Use sheep manipulatives, picture cards, or even cut-out sheep for a bulletin board. Ask questions like, "How many sheep do we have?" or "If we add two more sheep, how many will there be?" This connects practical math skills to the story of the shepherds watching over their flocks.
Science: The Weight of the Journey
The journey to Bethlehem was a long one, often involving animals like donkeys to carry supplies. In your science center, introduce a simple activity: comparing the weight of what a donkey can hold. Use a balance scale and small items (like blocks, cotton balls, or pompoms) representing "supplies." Have children estimate and test which items weigh more or less with a paper donkey. Repeat this activity by gluing the donkey to cardboard and compare the difference! This integrates concepts of weight, balance, and estimation while providing context for Mary and Joseph's long, difficult trip.

Art: Painting God's Canvas
The beauty of the natural world points us to our Creator. Encourage this appreciation in art by having children create a sunset watercolor painting and adding the silhouette of a camel traveling to Bethlehem. Discuss how God created the sky, the vibrant colors, and the magnificent star that guided the Wise Men. As they blend reds, oranges, and purples, talk about the glory of God revealed in creation. This simple art project becomes an act of worship and a lesson in color mixing.
Gross Motor: Following the Guiding Light
The Wise Men followed a star to find Jesus! Turn this journey into a fun, active game for gross motor development. Set up an obstacle course or simply use the perimeter of your room and have the children follow a "star" (a cutout star, a flashlight beam, or a star projected on the wall). Encourage different movements—creeping, running, skipping—as they follow the star, reminding them that the star led to the greatest gift of all. This activity promotes directional awareness and coordination.
